Playboy Radio Interview
The Blue Has Left Your Eyes
“I Just Keep Fighting the good fight”! That has become his mantra, the call to action for singer/songwriter, Bob Pressner. And no one has fought harder chasing his once elusive dream than Pressner. Which is why his long overdue and well deserved success is now becoming a reality.
Yet Pressner’s back story reads like an intrigue filled novel: It was the first World Trade Center bombing that changed Bob Pressner’s life. Working as a commodities trader at the WTC when the bomb hit, he made his way down a dark, smoke filled staircase to the parking garage, only to find his car destroyed and seemingly, no way out. Exhausted, his smoke and dust filled lungs almost bursting, he finally found a passage of light which led him out of that bomb wracked building. A life changing experience indeed and one which convinced him that having been offered a second chance, he was going to make the most of it. And make the most of it, he has. The World Trade Center experience caused him to reevaluate what was truly important to him in life and inspired him to pursue that dream with a new, raw sense of urgency.
Moving his wife and two young daughters to Florida, Bob soon found his place in the sun and he began to write and record with a vengeance, as he had never done before. He recorded and released album after album on his own small label, sending copies off to those in the hierarchy of the music industry, in hopes that someone would recognize and embrace his talent. That call never came. But then an interesting call did come. A friend in Los Angeles had given Bob’s latest CD to a writer/producer named Jim McGorman. McGorman, who wrote and produced albums with artists like, Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne loved what he heard and asked Bob to “Come to LA and let’s see if we can work together”. Their collaboration was magical. Bob and Jim struck a chord, writing song, after great song. McGorman put together a new, highly energized group of musicians from bands like the Goo Goo Dolls and they went into the studio to record. The result, an amazing, soon to be released CD entitled, “Looking Back”. Says McGorman, “Bob Pressner’s music resounds with the heart and soul of a life well lived.”
Oh…and when a preview of Pressner’s new CD got around, that music industry call did come…from the fabled EMI Music, who just finalized a distribution agreement to distribute Bob’s music
But Bob Pressner’s success factor hasn’t stopped there. His music videos just took “Top Honors” at YouTube, having achieved millions of views. And with his new band, he sang to a full house at South By Southwest, a live performance that led to another milestone... his own Comcast produced concert entitled, “Bob Pressner at Infinity Music Hall”, which will begin multiple airings on March 1, 2012 and with TV promotions running on cable channels like A&E, AMC, ESPN, CNN, Bravo, MTV, VH1, TBS.
Though he may have had a bit of a late start in his musical career, when you hear Bob Pressner’s new album and see him perform, you’ll know that this is only the beginning, with so much more to come
